I was born in 1974 in Las Vegas, Nevada. I've lived the majority of my life in Las Vegas and Reno. Growing up in Las Vegas, I played on competitive teams in most popular sports. I played third base in little league, I was a quarterback in Pop-Warner football, I played point guard in a youth basketball league, ran cross-country in high school, and played swing hitter on my high school volleyball team. After high school, I came up to Reno for college. My initial goal was to attend medical school and be a Christian missionary doctor. But I decided that I'd rather not subject my wife Soupha to 7 years of medical school and residency. Instead, I went into computer science and ended up becoming a software engineer at IGT. Along the way, I continued to play a lot of volleyball and got into endurance sports a bit. Strangely, as active as I had always been, fitness had never been a big priority for me. I always considered myself fit because I was pretty active. A few years ago, however, I discovered CrossFit. I found it incredibly challenging, but even more rewarding and was immediately hooked. For the first time in my life, fitness had become fun, and not just a chore that I had to do to be good at the things I really enjoyed. I was so excited about CrossFit that I began convincing my friends and family to try it. And that's how I began training people. It started out in my garage, and quickly grew into something more. Having taught computer programming courses at UNR, I felt very comfortable teaching. I had found something that I was incredibly passionate about, and I knew that I wanted to open an affiliate and train more people. To me, training people is so much more than just making their bodies stronger. It's about teaching them to be confident, and to persevere through life's adversities. I love being a CrossFit trainer because I get to see people become what they always dreamed of but just couldn't quite get there. I get to help them become fit, confident, and develop a lifestyle that will help them remain healthy for the rest of their lives!
