Ty Jones – Owner/Head Coach

Ty is a graduate of UNR with a degree in Biology with a Chemistry minor.  Ty found a love for teaching when he taught two years of Computer Science at UNR.  Having played competitive sports his whole life, Ty found coaching CrossFit a very natural fit.  He loves helping people achieve their goals.  And every time he steps into the gym, he’s excited to do just that.

Soupha Jones

 

Soupha Jones – Owner/Coach

Soupha is a graduate of UNR with a Master’s Degree in Education and an undergraduate degree in Biology.  Soupha played two seasons college volleyball.  As a mother of 3, she understands how hard it can be to find time to get a workout in.  Soupha loves to empower women that don’t believe in themselves to achieve true health and fitness.

Debbie Rominger

 

Debbie Rominger – Coach

Debbie is a College math instructor, and a mother of two.  She understands how difficult it can be to regain health and fitness.  She started at CrossFit Initiative as a member.  Through hard work and dedication, she sets an example every day of how to stay healthy, happy, and fit.  Debbie trains the early morning classes Monday through Friday.  So if you’re a morning person, Debbie will make sure you’re moving toward your fitness goals.

CJ Baroli – Coach

CJ is a Technical Artist at IGT, on the Washoe County Search & Rescue Hasty Team, and a co-owner of GirlFarm.  CJ has a passion for living a healthy, active life.  She’s full of energy and loves to see people achieve things they never thought possible.

Mark Hachquet

 

Mark Hachquet – Coach

Mark is a very thoughtful and caring coach that is constantly researching and learning about human movement.  He thoroughly enjoys training people to step out of their comfort zone.  He is also a very strong athlete with an elite level of fitness.

Carlos Hernandez

 

Carlos Hernandez – Coach

Carlos is a Mechanical Engineer that graduated from the UNR Engineering program.  He’s also a gifted athlete and coach.  A father of two young boys, he’s very patient and positive.  Carlos specializes in explosive movements and teaches the Olympic Weightlifting Fundamentals Class.  He plays competitive adult league baseball on the top-ranked team in the league.  Carlos 53″ box jump

Kristie Meyer

 

Kristie Meyer – Coach

Kristie played Division 1 water polo at Arizona State University.  She is also a trained acupuncturist.  She’s a fantastic coach that thoroughly enjoys training.  She understands the mechanics of human movement, and has a keen eye for proper form.

 

 

 

 

 

Greg Schlottmann

 

Greg Schlottmann – Coach

Greg has a Bachelor’s degree from Oregon Institute of Technology.  He also served in the Navy as a nuclear specialist.  Greg’s passion is strength.  He runs the dedicated strength program.  Although, lately he’s found a new interest in running.

Dee Jones

 

Dee Jones – Master’s Coach

Dee loves sharing fitness with the older population.  She understands what it’s like to be older and out of shape.  Although she is at an elite level of fitness now, she had to work very hard to get there.  She understands that as we age, we recover slower and our capacity diminishes.  She loves to show other Seniors that they can reclaim their fitness and dramatically improve their quality of life.

Drew Canavero

 

Drew Canavero – Coach

Drew is a perfectionist.  He holds only the highest standards for his athletes, and has the highest expectations for their performance.  He has reached the regionals for the CrossFit Games for 2 consecutive years.  He’s at the elite level among CrossFit athletes.  His focus is on training advanced level CrossFitters.  If you’re interested in very advanced fitness training, you’ll want to train in Drew’s classes.

 

 

 

 

Reid Weber

 

Reid Weber – Coach

Reid is graduate of UNR with a degree in Computer Science.  He is a competitive triathlete.  and enjoys training endurance athletes to find both success in their sport as well as well-rounded fitness.  A new father, Reid isn’t getting much sleep :-)   But he’s still a great motivator and mentor.

Colin Price

Colin Price – Coach

Colin is a Navy pilot that flies F/A-18 Super Hornets.  He has honed his teaching skills in the Navy instructing  junior pilots.  He is a very good trainer that holds the highest standards on form as well as range of motion.

Chris Scafidi – Membership Coordinator

Chris is the go-to guy when it comes to any questions regarding memberships, special programs, presentations, etc…  You’ll see Chris in the gym working out, because that’s how he originally got involved at CrossFit Initiative, as a member.
