Becoming a dad has been the best thing to happen to me in my life so far… Being fit throughout my life has become a huge goal in my life so I can enjoy life with my family in years to come. I never want to be the dad that can’t run a route to help his son develop a three step drop, or the dad that can’t play a 1-on-1 game with his son to develop his pull-up jumper. In high school I was part of 3 state championship teams in basketball and baseball, (I know it was a small school and to some that doesn’t count- but we always played hard!). After high school I was considering playing baseball and basketball at Grinnell College but decided to pursue a Mechanical Engineering degree at UNR. I now design slot machines for a living but still enjoy playing sports and currently manage an adult baseball team. This was our second year in the league and we just won the championship in September.
I found CrossFit when my best friend Joe brought me to a workout one day… I did a 21-15-9 WOD of heavy deadlifts and pull-ups. Like everyone, I was absolutely destroyed. After that, I was hooked to the camaraderie, the coaching, the competitiveness, and the family atmosphere. Through CrossFit I have also found a new passion in the Olympic lifts. I received my Olympic and Level 1 Certifications earlier this year and coaching and helping people get personal records is now a drug to me. It is a great feeling when you can get people to believe in themselves as much as you believe in them.
